About the Authors RICHARD
FAIRGRAY: Richard (among other problems) is legally blind, he has 3% vision in one eye and literally nothing in the other (he can stick a paint brush in the blind eye and often does at parties). Because of this slight disability Richard is only able to see in 2 dimensions which is why he has chose to work in comics and film, while being visual media they are also flat media where he can control the focal point that he is unable to find in real life. The above picture is of a 9ft tall felt version of Richard that he made in his time at art school, it was his only foray into 3 dimensional sculpture. RICHARD'S
OTHER WORK: In 2004 Richard released Drinking Mercury, a one off story about insomnia and the nature of perception. Richard himself suffers from a bizarre form of insomnia and has a deep seated hatred for other insomniacs. 2005 saw the release of Falling Leaves, Richard's most ambitious work (at least it was until this pesky monthly title). The three part comic told the story of a university student who discovers he has god like powers, unfortunately he wasn't supposed to find out and things don't end so well. In 2008 (after a hiatus from comics and some time spent on writing things that didn't have pictures) Richard released what was meant to be his last 'graphic novel.' Wilhelm Scream is a murder mystery, based around a sound effect, set within a play, structured like a movie and written as a comic book. Richard was fascinated by the idea of evoking other senses in a silent, visual medium. In 2008 (while also doing Blastosaurus) Richard filmed a feature film called Silver Age but due to time constraints it is currently stuck in post production hell and is going to be rewritten as a comic book instead as soon as Richard has some free time.
Terry has several published works including two teen fiction novels entitled The Left Handed Gun and The Rumbler. His text books are used in classrooms across the country. Richard and Terry have been working together for several years, writing short films, unit plans and even some comic books. Their first comic collaboration was on a short piece for Richard's ongoing series Nebulous Definitive (originally published in New Ground by DMC). Since then Richard has consulted Terry on all his comic works and from issue 03 of Blastosaurus Terry came onboard as full time co-writer. Terry's knowledge and understanding of the media, story structure and pretty much everythign else bring an extra level of depth to Blastosaurus to make it a far more multi faceted series. |
